Glasgow Open Dance School (G.O.D.S)
11 January – 21 February 2014
Opening Event: Saturday 11 January 3pm – 6pm
For six weeks from the 11th of January 2014, Glasgow Open Dance School is based at Market Gallery, creating a physical, welcoming space for movement research and practice in Glasgow. The first space at Market Gallery is The Resource Room, which holds text based resources: documents, books and plenty of tea! The second space is The c[AV]e, a comfortable audio visual room with a collection of films, music and podcasts. In both rooms there is a clear system that enables open access so you can come in and make choices about what you read, watch or listen to. The final space is The Studio, a dance studio bookable by anyone, for free, to explore any movement projects, urges of desires physically.
There will also be a programme of free movement and dance workshops and events throughout the six weeks. Details of all the classes and events are published in a small booklet, and available to look at onwww.marketgallery.org or www.glasgowopendanceschool.co.uk. Keep a look out for new events, talks and screenings that may come about during the six weeks too! G.O.D.S’ ethos will run throughout this project: supporting and encouraging anyone with an interest to come and join in.

Glasgow Open Dance School (G.O.D.S) is a not for profit voluntary run organisation that was founded in Glasgow in 2011 by Julia Scott, Romany Dear and Ashanti Harris. G.O.D.S’ main focus is to program and facilitate monthly dance and movement related workshops in and around Glasgow for free! It is an open group that is intended for anybody with a desire to move, dance, learn, teach or share. Everyone is a dancer!
G.O.D.S is a non fixed group with an intentionally non thematic style, we encourage all forms of moving and methods of teaching. We value shared learning and collective movement above individual excellence; everyone is equally welcome to contribute to the content of workshops. G.O.D.S is continually moving! It doesn’t have a fixed home or location, our events happen around the city in different spaces and places.
