Open Corner Open Call

Open Corner is a one-off initiative, facilitated by Market Gallery, for practitioners to make use of an unoccupied shop-front unit on Duke Street.

Open Corner is located seven doors down from Market Gallery. The space is suited to making, sharing and experimenting - possible uses could include but are not limited to studio & rehearsal space, curatorial & discursive space as well as gearing up to public events such as workshops, performances and screenings. We are accepting expressions of interest for practitioners to use the space in any way they wish for week-long slots (Tuesday-Monday) from now to late September 2017. The space features a main room with full length windows, a smaller room, and is equipped with kitchen and toilet facilities all of which practitioners will have 24 hour access to.

To express interest please send a short statement of how you would like to use the space (around 200 words) and any links to websites or online material to with the subject: Open Corner.

Please state up to three preferred slots to use the space. The deadline for interest is 14th July 2017 at 23:59, however practitioners willing to make use of the space prior to this should express interest as soon as possible. Practitioners can alternatively submit this in short audio/video format.

Market Gallery are unable to provide fees or production budgets for Open Corner, and rather see this as an open and responsive project that focuses on the provision of space as a useful resource for practitioners. Therefore we advise practitioners consider this before expressing an interest. Market Gallery will be able to provide equipment, tools, online marketing and modest hospitality support for any public events.

Please email us at if you have any accessibility requirements or other enquiries.
